GETTING TO KNOW BRAD
Brad Miles has been writing songs, singing and performing for almost as long as he's been alive. He sang his first solo in church at the tender age of two, performed countless times with his mom and brother as a grade-schooler and eventually graduated to writing his own songs on a beat-up, garage sale guitar in Junior High. In college, Brad formed a band with some friends and spent several years touring Texas, playing in all kinds of venues for all kinds of audiences. Eventually, Brad moved to Nashville, signed a record deal and began touring in support of a national release with his band Everman. The self-titled album released in 2003. In 2006, Brad released a solo worship album while serving on the ministry staff of a church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. All of these experiences shaped him as an artist and as a songwriter. For the past decade, Brad has been working on new material for an album that is finally beginning to come to fruition. "I've spent a lot of years writing songs and performing," Brad relates, "and I feel like I've finally figured out who I am as an artist." Raw, honest, Americana music has been the common thread for these new songs. "I guess that's just what comes out of me naturally when I'm just writing songs for me, and not trying to write songs for any certain genre or demographic." After so many years of writing and performing, Brad feels like he has finally found his true voice. The songs are powerful and vulnerable. They can be fun and they can also be heart-wrenching. "My whole focus as an artist is to connect with people," Brad says. "I want to write songs that make people feel something, that connect with them on a deeply personal level. I love writing songs that people hear and immediately think, 'That song could have been written about me.'" As he begins work on this new project, Brad is excited about what the next chapter in his music career holds. "These songs are different, but they are also really familiar. People who have followed my journey as an artist will recognize so much of this. Other folks, though, are going to hear these songs and be introduced to my music for the first time. I can't wait to connect with a new audience through these songs. I'm really proud of them."
